Chillán
HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL CAPITAL OF CHILE
The City of Chillán, "Seat of the Sun" in mapuche language, it was founded June 26 1580 for Don Martín Ruiz of Gamboa. After the foundation it has had three restorations in new locations, being the current the definitive one.
They are many elements that give to the city an own identity, and the visitors can admire places full with history and charm. In their history Don Bernardo O'Higgins, eminent person of the independence, in his honor an imposing monument rises in the center of the Square of Weapons.
In the Arts Claudio Arrau, virtuoso of the piano stands out; Ramón Vinay in the world lyrical with their work and legacy that will give origin to the Cultural Center that takes their name where it will be remembered as " Otello " immortal.
Marta Colvin, exceptional sculptress; Marta Brunet representative of the letters; Arturo Pacheco Altamirano and Baltazar Hernández with the expresivity of their oils, watercolors and so many others.

Itata freeway and for the road Chillán-Huape-Confluencia. Their ceramic in black
clay, made by hand, with the help of rustic elements, give fame at international
level. It pieces in expressive and simple lines are exposed in the Museums of
Louvre in Paris, of Contemporary art in New York and National Museum of Moscow. |

Located in the Escuela México, these murals are an exceptional artistic work,
developed during the years 1941 - 1942 for the Mexican painters David Alfaro
Siqueiros and Xavier Guerrero. At the moment is working in the project for the
creation of the Siqueiros Cultural Center, where the pepole will have the opportunity
to enter at the beautiful and exciting world of those murals. |
